Mary A. ALSOP Obituary
NEWPORT NEWS - On Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012, Mary Ann Blair Hudson Alsop, affectionately known as "SIS," entered into eternal life. She was born to the late Mr. Will Blair and Emma K. Blair on Sept. 9, 1934, in Newport News, Va.
Mary Ann was educated in the Newport News Public Schools, graduating from Huntington High School. She attended Medical College of Virginia (MCV) and Virginia State College in addition to studies in Montgomery County, Ohio. Mary Ann was a very giving person; she enjoyed volunteering with various organizations to aid in enhancing education and assisting people in crisis.
Mary Ann retired from Eastern State Hospital after 25 years or more of service. She was a dedicated member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Hampton, Va.
She leaves to cherish her memory one sister, Rev. Lottie B. Kee of Durham, N.C.; three brothers, Rathell Blair (Delores), of Hampton, Otis Blair (Carrie) of Newport News, and Clarence Blair of Bowie, Md.; a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and special friends.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 2114 Bay Avenue, Hampton. Viewing will be from 1 to 7 p.m., Friday at the funeral home and two hours prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
