Mary WENTLAND Obituary
Born in Morristown, N.J., she had made her home in Newport News since 1942.
A homemaker, Mary had also retired as a mathematician from NASA. She was the past President of the Peninsula Chapter of the National Needlework Guild of America and an active participant in various other volunteer organizations on the Peninsula. She was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church and a former member of the Warwick Yacht Club.
Mrs. Wentland was predeceased by her two brothers and a sister.
She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, George A. Wentland; a son, Patrick D. Wentland and wife, Charlene, of Tabb; a daughter, Lola W. Hackett and husband, Christopher, of Salem, Ore.; a brother, Lawrence Dennin of Indianapolis, Ind.; one grandson, Jordan D. Wentland; and numerous extended family.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2009, at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church by the Rev. Ken Wood. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will in Peninsula Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Mary's memory to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, 100 Harpersville Rd., Newport News, VA 23601.

Dear Lolly,
I'm sorry to learn of your mother's recent death. Although I cannot be with you and your family at the funeral, please know that I have all of you in my thoughts and prayers. Your mother was a beautiful person, and I never saw her when she wasn't smiling.
