Mary POAGE Obituary

HAMPTON - Mary Elizabeth "Lib" Poage, 94, of Hampton, went to be with the Lord on Friday, Sept. 3, 2010.
Mary was at home surrounded by loved ones and friends. She was a native of Tyrrell County, Columbia N.C., and was a member of Wesley Memorial Methodist Church, N.C. Mary was a graduate from Louisburg College N.C., and a member of Kappa Delta Phi Chapter.
Preceding her in rest is her husband of 39 years Woodrow C. Poage; parents, James E. and Elizabeth C. Alexander; and two brothers, James D. Alexander and wife, Audrey and Sterling C. Alexander and wife Sally.
Left to cherish her memory are her three nieces, Ann E. Alexander of Columbia, N.C., JoAnn A. Goodwin of Norfolk, Va., and Lisa E. Gee of Edenton, N.C.; five nephews, Sterling C. "Steve" Alexander of N. Myrtle Beach N.C., David N. Alexander of Burlington, N.C., James D. "JD" Alexander of Norfolk, Va., John D. Alexander of Seal Beal, Calif., and Joseph E. Alexander of Norfolk, Va. She additionally leaves behind 13 great and great-great nieces and nephews all of whom loved her very much.
The family will receive friends Sunday, Sept. 5, 2010, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Parklawn – Wood Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held Monday, Sept. 6, 2010, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Herbert R. Bowman officiating. Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Park. The family invites friends to join them immediately after the burial at Mrs. Poage's home in Hampton, Va.
Memorial contributions may be made to Wesley Memorial Methodist Church, 508 Main Street, Columbia, NC 27925.
