Maver PARKER Obituary

HAMPTON - Maver Clarke "Punky" Parker, 90, was called home to be with her heavenly father Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2010. She was a devoted wife and mother who always put others before herself.
A native of Phoebus and a lifelong resident of Hampton, she was a member of First United Methodist Church, Fox Hill.
After graduating from Norfolk Business College, Mrs. Parker worked in the Engineering Department at Fort Monroe where she met the love of her life Lee D. Parker. They have been married 64 years. She founded The Lady's Boutique in Phoebus which she operated 27 years until her retirement in 2002.
Active in her church, she was a member of the Edith Spencer Sunday School Class, the Wednesday morning Women's Circle and Martha's Ministry. She was a member of the Hampton Woman's Club, volunteered at the Hampton History Museum and participated in Silver Sneakers and Yoga at the YMCA.
In addition to her husband, Lee, Mrs. Parker is survived by her daughter, Gwen and son-in-law, Mike Martin of Hampton; two sisters, Ernestine Jackson and Constance Clarke, both of Hampton; two nephews, David Jackson and Tom Jackson; a niece, Nancy Jackson; two great-nieces, Heather and Hannah Jackson; and a great-nephew, Joshua Jackson.
A funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday in First United Methodist Church, Fox Hill with the Rev. Tommy Markham and the Rev. Brian Sixbey officiating. Burial in St. John's Cemetery will be next week.
Friends are invited to pay their respects at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home, 245 S. Armistead Ave., Hampton.
