McKinley JONES Obituary

NEWPORT NEWS - Mr. McKinley Jones entered into eternal rest on Saturday, Sept. 18, 2010.
Mr. McKinley was born Feb. 26, 1914, to the late Hugh Jones and Theorria Whitaker in Rocky Mount, N.C., but had been a longtime resident of the Tidewater community. He worked for the Newport News Shipbuilding & DryDock Company for more than 43 years before retiring as a rigger. He attended Gethsemane Baptist Church faithfully until his declining health would no longer permit him to do so. He was a faithful member of the Elks Lodge of Newport News.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jane Marsh Jones.
He is survived by his daughter, Cleo Bridges of Maryland; his stepdaughter, Dorothy Roberson of Newport News; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Viewing will be held from noon to 6 p.m. today, at Cooke Bros. Funeral Chapel. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2010, at Hampton Memorial Gardens.
