SUFFOLK - Mildred Ann Dabney Nimmo "Ann," 84, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2010. She was a warm, joyful, loving, cheerful presence in the lives of her family and many friends.
Born May 25, 1926, in Jackson, Miss., she was the daughter of the late Anna Dell Allbritton and Mike Burke Dabney of Hernando, Miss. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband of 54 years, Morris Howard Nimmo; daughter, Rebecca Ann Nimmo; brothers, Robert Lewis, Mike Burke, and James Clifton Dabney; and sister, Mary Elizabeth Nelson.
Ann was a graduate of Hernando High School and Mississippi State College for Women. She was an active member of the local Presbyterian churches where she lived, including Memphis, Tenn., Smithtown, N.Y., Gaithersburg, Md., and Williamsburg, Va. Most recently, she was a member of Suffolk Presbyterian Church in Suffolk, Va.
Ann is survived by her loving family, including her daughter, Jennifer Elizabeth Coston and husband, Jeffrey of Suffolk; two sons, Dale Edward Nimmo and wife, Carol of Wake Forest, N.C., and Stephen Howard Nimmo and wife, Kathy of Pittsburgh, Pa.; nine grandchildren, Heather and Megan Coston, Jamie, Carrie, Brian, Kyle, Sean, Chase and Zack Nimmo.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, 2010, at Suffolk Presbyterian Church, by the Rev. Rebecca P. Lesley. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, 2010, at Williamsburg Memorial Park, 130 King William Drive, Williamsburg, with the Rev. Karen V. Stanley presiding.
