Mildred MATHIS Obituary

NEWPORT NEWS - Mildred J. Mathis passed away Monday, April 5, 2010, at Bayside of Poquoson.
Born in Wilmington, N.C., she had been a Peninsula resident since 1940. She was a member of Hilton Presbyterian Church, and a former member of Deer Park Homemaker's Club and Warwick Woman's Club.
Mrs. Mathis was preceded in death by her husband, John L. Mathis; and daughter, Joanne Marshall.
She is survived by three grandchildren, Robin L. Watson, Richard A. Marshall and Lisa A. Marshall; one great-grandson, Craig Davis; one great-great-grandson, Conner Davis; one niece, Gayle M. Phillips and husband, Randy; one great-nephew, Holden Knight; and one brother-in-law, W.G. Mathis of Rocky Point, N.C.
A memorial service will be conducted at 4 p.m. Sunday, April 11, 2010, at Hilton Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Gary Bagley.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mildred's memory to Hilton Presbyterian Church, 34 Main St, Newport News, VA 23601 or to a charity of choice.

So sorry to read of the passing of Ms Mathis. I fondly remember her always smiling face when we met at Hilton Presbyterian. A wonderful woman and a great friend of my grandmother. She will be greatly missed.
