There is more information that did not make this publishing that I wanted to add.
Myrna's caregiving expertise took her career in a new direction when she was hired as a mental health social worker for the City of East Orange, NJ. This new position called on her nursing skills and compassion for the de-institutionalized patients transitioning into the community. She pioneered new standards and practices for supporting this community and was recognized for this important work. She was
an active participant in community mental health boards and other advocacy groups to advance awareness and support for mental health issues. Myrna retired after 17 years of dedicated service.
In her personal life, Myrna was a faithful member of Imani Baptist Church of Christ in East Orange, NJ. She and Julian were particularly fond of Caribbean cruise travel and enjoyed visiting southeastern Virginia. After retiring from the City of East Orange, Myrna and Julian moved to Newport News, VA where she continued her nursing profession.
