Nancy PRICE Obituary

NEWPORT NEWS - At Nancy and Ray's home, no guest could go long without a laugh, a drink, or too much to eat. When preparing for a party of 10 people, Nancy cooked enough food for 25 and had enough funny stories for 100.
Nancy Price, 54, passed away at their Newport News home on Nov. 26, after suffering from cancer.
She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Raymond Price; son, Chris Price and his wife and son, Karyn and Dylan; daughter, Nikki Connelly and her husband, Steve; stepdaughter, Michelle Hand and her daughters, Lauren and Leah; mother, Kikue (Peggy) Ponton; brothers, John and Mike Ponton; many loving nieces, nephews, brothers- and sisters-in-law; and dogs, Toby and Daisy.
She was preceded in death by her father, William Ponton; and dogs, Patches and Muffin.
Nancy was born and lived most of her life in Newport News. She graduated from Ferguson High School (1973) and Jan-Mar Beauty Academy (former instructor), was a Republican and entrepreneur (formerly owned AAA Luxury Limousines), and loved the opera. Nancy could make anyone laugh, blush, or typically do both, and it didn't matter if she knew you 30 seconds or 30 years as she knew no strangers.
Family and friends will gather at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home at noon on Saturday, Dec. 5, followed by a celebration of Nancy's life at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Kermit Meadows presiding.
In lieu of flowers, Ray requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to Heartland Hospice Services, 11835 Fishing Point Dr, Ste 101, Newport News, VA 23606, so that others can receive the same loving care provided to Nancy.
Friends are encouraged to visit www.parklawn-woodfh.com to share memories and words of condolence with the family.
Arrangements are under the care of Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home, 2551 N. Armistead Avenue, Hampton. View and post condolences on our online guestbook at dailypress.com/guestbooks.

I've known Nancy since we were at Jan-Mar together in 1972. From then on, it was never a dull moment with her. That machine-gun laugh she had would make you laugh just hearing it. I will miss her and my heart goes out to Raymond, Chris and Nikki.

My deepest sympathies to you and your family.

The Lord is my rock,
and my fortress, and my deliverer;
my God, my strength, in whom I take refuge;
my shield, and the horn of my salvation,
and my high tower.

Dear Ray, Chris, Nikki, Michelle, and Family,
It is with heartfelt sadness that we send you all our deepest condolences. We loved Nancy, and we feel very fortunate that were able to have you all as neighbors and friends for ten years in Northern Virginia. We have so many wonderful memories of our times together – Saturday yard sales, Christmas in Calamo St, watching Alf & ‘the plant movie’ with Nikki, and the wild Wildwood vacations, laughing with Nancy all the way. There is no one with a bigger heart than Nancy, and no better friend in the world. Lenny and I will be there on Saturday. With love to you all, Theresa, Lenny, Linda, and David Fitch.

Dear Family,

Always take comfort in knowing that she now resides with the angels and . . . . The Lord.

Oh, Nancy, you made us laugh!! So much fun at J-Mar and cutting up in the classroom with Mrs. Bruso and Ms Wilson!!

I can't believe you are gone, so young and so beautiful, we will keep you and your family in our hearts and prayers always.

The Jan Mar girls were getting ready to have a little reunion get together like we have done in the past, it won't be the same without your wit and sense of humor. . . . but when we think of you . . . . it will always make us smile:)

Peace,

To Nancy's family:
I knew Nancy my whole life. My mom and Dad went to beauty school with her. I remember running around the beauty school as a child just to see her. I can remember being in high school and her always telling me, if you ever get in trouble and you need someone to bail you out you call me. Never took her up on that, but was nice to know if I needed too she was there. Nancy always brought a smile to my face. I am so sorry that her life has been cut short. She was a wonderful person to be around and will be deeply missed.
