Nancy OFFAN

HAMPTON - Nancy Wells Offan, 74, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 29, 2009.
Nancy was a native of Leonia, N.J., and former resident of Seaford, Va. Nancy and her husband, Col. Ken Offan (Retired U.S. Army) started to travel the country in their RV in 2000, and traveled to every state, except for Maine, which they had planned to do before Nancy's health declined in September 2009.
While living in Seaford, Nancy was a dental hygienist for Dr. Sidney Becker and other area dentists, and also at the Naval Weapons Station. She enjoyed raising and breeding Sealyham Terriers and was past President of the Colonial Terrier Club. She was a volunteer with Habitat for Humanity, and enjoyed quilting, which will be carried on by her daughters.
She was preceded in death by her son, John Patterson and is survived by her loving husband of 25 years, Ken Offan; two sons, Danny Patterson of New Paltz, N.Y., and Mike Patterson of Portland, Ore.; four daughters, Cathy Lee and her husband, Dan of Burke, Va., Mimi Van Horn and her husband, Mark of Harahan, La., Margie Offan of Harahan, La., and Julie Gideon and her husband, Alan of Bristow, Va. She is also survived by her former husband, Don Patterson of New York; two brothers, Ted Wells of Lakeland, Fla., and Welton Wells of Nashville, Tenn.; a sister-in-law, Muriel Offan of Thibodaux, La.; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, Dec. 5, 2009, at 11 a.m. at St Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Yorktown. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service.
