Mr. and Mrs. Ferris and Sean,

From the moment I met Nicholas he brought a breath of fresh air. Nicholas was a fighter and we all learned what courage was by watching him. His smile was infectious and his laughter contagious. He always had the cutest jokes and some of them I had to really stop and think about. He loved outdoor games, whether playing or helping me supervise. I am so glad he came to visit us at Captain Kidds even as his health was declining. There was not a day that went by that the children did not ask about him, they missed him very much. I did not give up on his battle and always had a place ready for his return. My heart aches, but I know he is at peace. Please find comfort that you are in my thoughts and prayers. All My Love

Nick, thank you for gracing my life with your presence. I can only wonder and imagine how wonderful you feel right now in heaven. I said it to you at the visitation yesterday, and I will say it again today...no more pain.

John and Christina, I regret I didn't spend more time with Nick as his assistant den leader. But do know that he has been, as well as you two and Sean, constantly in my thoughts and prayers during his epic battle with the tumor. My thoughts and prayers now focused on the three of you. My hope is that God gives you the peace that you need to help you cope with the loss of Nick, here on earth.

What joy Nicholas brought to our neighborhood! He would always stop and talk to me while I was working in the yard or coming home from work. His tone was quite grown up as he would tell me what he had been doing that day. He reminded me a lot of my oldest son. The memory that I am holding on to is Christmas morning 2009. Sean was riding up and down the street on his new motorized car looking very cool in his sunglasses. Nick was riding up and down the court on his new motorized scooter. John was running after him yelling, "Use the breaks!" The three of them were having so much fun. Nick expressed so much love and life. May the joyful memories that we all have help to heal your broken hearts. Nick has touched so many lives. You can rest assured that my mom, who passed away 14 days ago, will take good care of him! God loves you all.

Thinking about you constantly and praying for you just as much. I will always remember Nick as the little boy who showed me how to fly a remote control airplane. He made such an impression in such a short time, and I know he is loving seeing airplanes fly from up in heaven. I so wish I could be there celebrating his life tomorrow.

Nicholas Ferris was indeed the quintessential "little boy." It was always so entertaining to watch Nick and his buddies playing in the neighborhood. His energy and sweet spirit were always evident; in his short time with us he embraced life to the fullest and enriched our lives. The entire Ferris family has been a cherished addition to our neighborhood. Our love and prayers are with them today and always. Ben and Vicki Weatherford

There just aren't the right words to say. As parents our hearts ache for your loss. May the many prayers and God's loving hands comfort your family now and in the days to come. When you moved in our neighborhood it was so refreshing to see Nick and Sean playing and bringing other kids to our street to have fun. One of the most touching moments we remember is our "big snow stom" where you were pulling Nick on a sled. That look of joy on his face was priceless. He's leaving a legacy of courage and strength that can be a lesson to all of us.

We all were so heart broken when we heard that our little Nick had passed. He had the cutest smile and a great sense of humor. As Nick was fighting his cancer, I saw courage and such a will to be just a kid again. We are grateful that he was able to visit Phillips, even so close to his passing. I pray that you and your family find peace and comfort during this difficult time. I'm sure that Nick is in Heaven right now sharing a cute joke with God!
