Opal WETHERINGTON Obituary

HAMPTON - Opal E. Wetherington, age 87, passed away Wednesday, June 9, 2010.
A native of Rabun, Ga., she had been a resident of Hampton for 69 years. Opal retired after 15 years of service from Rose's Department Store.
Opal was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Wetherington; and son, James Wetherington.
She is survived by her granddaughter, Stacie Law and fiancE, Jimmy Parker of Hampton; grandsons, Jimmy Wetherington and wife, Amanda of Lanexa, and Terry Wetherington of Hampton; great-grandchildren, Zach Krisnow, who shared her birthday, Collin and Jessica Law, Gavin and Summer Wetherington.
Many joys were shared with her and she will be missed but we find comfort in knowing she is out of pain and happy to be home with dad and granddaddy again.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 15, at Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends following the service at the residence of their grandma Opal.
Friends are encouraged to visit www.parklawn-woodfh.com to share memories and words of condolence with the family.
Arrangements are under the care of Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home, 2551 N. Armistead Ave., Hampton, VA 23666. View and post condolences on our online guestbook at dailypress.com/guestbooks.

Mrs.Wetherington was a great lady. Worked with her at Roses in the early 80's and then would run into her at a store. My prayers are with the family at this time as they rejoice a great lady.
