Patricia Colafrancesco Obituary

WILLIAMSBURG - Patricia Louise Colafrancesco, age 76, of Williamsburg, Va., died at Sentara Hospital on Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2009, after battling Pulmonary Fibrosis for almost two years.
Patricia was born June 4, 1933, in North Providence, R.I., to Albert and Alberta Dragon. She attended North Providence High School and graduated in 1950. On Sept. 2, 1957, she was united in marriage to Rocco J. Colafrancesco.
In 1957, her adventure began as wife and mother of three in a military family. Although she was apprehensive at first about moving every few years with the military, Patricia made many friends from her military travels throughout the country and she loved each and every place they lived. With each move, Patricia had the ability to transform each house into a nurturing home. She was a warm, generous person, devoted mother and grandmother.
After 27 years in the Army and having lived in Rhode Island, New York City, Virginia and abroad, Rocco retired from the military and they made Williamsburg, VA their home. They have been dedicated members of St. Bede Catholic Church for more than 28 years.
Patricia was preceded in death by her parents and by her brother, Leon Dragon.
She is survived by Rocco, her husband of 52 years; her three children, Rocco Colafrancesco Jr. (Amy), Karen Gallagher of Williamsburg, Va., and her youngest, Stephen Colafrancesco (Tracy) of Tampa, Fla.; granddaughters, Marialena and Holly; grandsons, Stephen and Rocco III. She is also survived by her sister, Lorraine Ricci (Vincent); and nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
A wake will be held for Patricia L. Colafrancesco at the Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Rd., Williamsburg, on Sunday, Nov.15, from 6 to 8 p.m. A Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at St. Bede Catholic Church on Ironbound Road, Monday, Nov. 16, at 9 a. m. The Rev. Arlon Vergara, of St. Bede, will officiate. Entombment will be in St. Bede's Columbarium at a later date. Friends are welcome to join us for brunch on Monday morning directly after the Mass, at Mirabella's Italian Restaurant on Bypass Road.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations in her name to, St. Bede Parish, P.O. Box 5400, Williamsburg, VA, 23188.

Pat will be missed not only by Rocco and her children and grandchildren, she will also be missed and fondly remembered by her large extended family, a host of friends whom she loved almost as much as she loved her immediate family. If Pat said to you, “You’re like a member of the family,” you felt blessed, even if you felt unworthy of such inclusion, for Pat’s family is a family based on love and caring and kindness and generosity. All of the many who have been loved by Pat have been blessed, indeed. Pat was special, and she knew well how to make others feel special, and, yes, she will be missed, not only by her immediate family but also by those who will miss her not only as a friend but as a member of her extended family.
