I was truly heartbroken when I heard the news of Ms. McCarthy passing. She was my 8th grade teacher at Davis some years ago. She believed in preparing her students for the future. My life is the better having known her. She is also the reason I found a church home at Gethsemane Baptist Church. The world has lost a very dear soul.

To the Family of Patricia Nobles,
May the Lord keep you and comfort you during this time of bereavement. May you find solace in his loving arms.
I have fond memories of Pat as a fellow coworker at Davis Middle School. We were directly across the hall from each other. She arrived very early, turned on her favorite gospel music, and chatted about her sons before starting the day. She was an awesome teacher and loving mother. She will be sorely missed.
Praying prayers of comfort,

Dearest Brian,
Your mom was here for a specific time and specific purpose. She was here to love you and your brother, to teach you, to care for you...her mission on earth was accomplished. It is difficult for you to get pass not seeing her face or hearing her voice, but she lives in your heart...her love for you lasts always. Rest in knowing that God loves you and He is listening. He will heal your hurt. Go to Him and let Him encourage you in the weeks and months ahead.

Brian, I fell into tears in my classroom the day I heard about Pat. It was just too much to bear. Then a few days later I remembered that we all have an appointed time that we must part this earth. And I began to reflect on how well she served her time here as a mother who was so proud of her boys and all the students and co-workers whose lives she so lovingly impacted. I thought, Lord please bless me to be the kind of blessing on this earth that you taught Pat to be.
Remember, Brian, when you feel you just can't go on, look up and remember that it is not your own strength on which you have to depend; It's the Lord's.

To the Family of Patricia N. McCarthy:
I enjoyed my friendship and acqaintance with Pat while at Huntington High School (Class of 1970). My most memorable times of joy was when we talked after some of HHS football games. Pat being in the symphonic and marching band and me being a HHS cheerleader we had a lot to talk about...("We are the mighty VIKINGS)!
We also shared homeroom, cafeteria times, and several classes together while at HHS.
Then in our later years we shared our love for Christ as I visited her home church Gethsemane Baptist.
I must say, she is and always will be in my heart an awesome woman of great character and integrity!
Family, in the days to come, let the Word of God in Psalm 119:28 encourage you and bring you comfort and strength. It says,"We weep with grief; now Lord encourage us by your Word."

Duane and family,
Mom Nobles, as we and others called her, was a mother to me too. One of my favorite memories of her is when were getting ready to get our license and she was teaching us how to drive. Well, there was a particular Yield sign in our neighborhood that we always passed going to football practice and we kept coming to a complete stop when we got to it. One day, she finally had to say "you only have to slow down, look both ways and keep going. She told us exactly how to do it. I remember that moment because she was such a brilliant teacher not only in school but in life. I admired the fact that your Mom was a teacher, especially because your grades were better than mine. She was always proud of you and Brian and taught you both how to make it in life and look at you both now. Stay strong and continue to make her proud. She will truly be missed but not forgotten. Much love to you and the rest of the family. You all are not alone. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Pat McCarthy will truly be missed at Davis Middle School. She loved her students and pushed them to do their best. She took time to create school packets to take home to reinforce instruction. One parent told me how much she appreciated Pat calling to let her know how her child was doing. One of her students told me how much "she would encourage me to do my best." Pat McCarthy is one of those great teachers who touched the lives of the students and staff at Davis.
