My sympathy goes out to the Hudgins family. I knew Paul way back in the early 80's when we all used to jam together. He would patiently teach me how to play guitar. Rest in Peace, my friend.

I met Paul back 1987 and am deeply sorrowed in hearing of his passing. My condolences to his family and friends. Pauls all around love for life was treamendous, as well as his love of music, family, and friends. I owe alot to Paul and his family for helping me out when I was going thru a really rough time in my life. They took me in like one of their family. Paul taught me alot about music and kept my interest up in playing when I was ready to just throw in the towel, he also taught me alot about life and friendship and my life, as well as many others, is much richer for having been blessed with knowing Paul, For this I am ETERNALY THANKFUL! Paul will always a blessing to the music world and anyone who knew him, and I am thankful that the Lord blessed me with being part of Pauls' Life and Family. I have, as many others and the world, lost a Wonderful Friend and Brother.
" May your Eyes and Smile always shine, your heart and soul ride with the wind, and Your love and song be heard and felt by all". Paul the one true "Standing Soldier".

Im so sorry for the Hudgins Family and friends . Growing up in Tabb as a kid some of my fondest memories were riding on the back of Pauls motorcyle, riding in the yellow Maverick . Paul was such a good friend to my family . I never seen him upset always a grin and happy a true gem . My heart goes out to the hudgins family and all of Pauls many friends - who are some of my life long friends as well .

Paul may your soul be at rest in the glory of god , I pray for your family

I ran into an old friend at the airport and was told of Pauls passing.
It is a great loss to his family and
loved ones. I remember jamming in her
garage with a young boy that I thought could play better than me. I heard his
CD. I was right.

I remember Paul before I left for college in 1980. My brother Jerome would ride motorcycles with him and I would see him in the neighborhood. I didn't know him as well as my brother did. My last memory of Paul was visiting my parents' house in Kings Villa and hearing a motorcycle go up the dirt road between our neighborhoods. I said, "There goes Paul." Sure enough, it was him. Wish I knew him better- such wonderful things said about him. My heart goes out to Paul's family and friends.

We met when I was 17...my teenage sweetheart, and first love. I have wonderful memories of those days...riding his dirtbike, driving around in the yellow & black maverick, (he tought me how to drive a '3 on the tree'), matching Eddie Van Halen haircuts!...just to name a few. So many years have passed, but as the memories flood back in, it feels like just yesterday. Paul will always hold a very special place in my heart. Betty Jo, Conway, Sherry, Teresa and the rest of the family -I hope that you find comfort during this time knowing that Paul touched the lives of so many and left us all with such beautiful memories. With much, much love,

Sherry and Family ~ I almost did not write anything because I said, You know, I really didn't know Paul that well and then I began to read all the nice, heart warming things people have said about him and I realize how cheated I feel because I won't get the chance to know Paul very well. We will forever regret not having the opportunity to know this guy that seemed to have the kindest heart and most giving personality. Just know that you all are in our thoughts and prayers and if there is anything we can do, please let us know.

My cousin and my friend. I hate I did not get to say goodbye. Since moving to NC I did not get to see Paul much not everyday like I did growing up next door. When I did come home, I always made a point to tell cousin Paul hello. I have so many childhood memories of him riding his motorcycles. I remember him riding wheelies in front of my house ( seemed like he rode for a mile) I use to tell my dad I was gonna be able to do that one day. He had such a big heart , anything I asked him to do he done it. I always had cousin Paul working on my go-kart and three wheeler. I remember asking my dad if I could go to the hills to ride and I would always say please cousin Paul is back there. He knew I was okay if Paul was there. I remember those hot summer days and I could hear Cousin Paul playing his guitar, wow he could definitely play. I never had his art talent but my little boy does. I always like seeing his animals, he loved nature. He was a very special cousin to me and I will miss him so much, home will not be the same when I come to visit. My thoughts and prayers are with all my family especially Aunt Betty, Uncle Wee Wee, Theresa, Sherri, Brandi, Chris and all their families.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Hudgin's family. I will cherish all the great memories of Paul during our middle school and high school years. Riding at "the hills" and just hanging out. Paul was truly the most kind hearted person I ever met. Rest in peace, Paul. You will be missed.

October 25, 2009

Paul was very special to me and my children. I have never had someone so
talented in his music but was to shy
to let the world hear his beautiful songs. We spent several years together and I saw the most beautiful artwork go unseen bythe public. He had more friends than even he was aware of. Many people love Paul. I will not say that now heis gone because he lives on in all of us that love him. Although our lives
were separate for many years we spoke
often and that type of love never dies
but only grows stronger with time. He
will be missed by many. My love goes out to his family who will long to hear
his beautiful voice and feel his warm and loving touch. Close your eyes, he
is right beside you.

With all my love

Paul Hudgins: My cousin ...My friend..
Passionate...charismatic....artistic...genuine... talented.. Paul was all the above! I feel very blessed to be a member of the Hudgins family, which is very large and close. Extremely blessed to call him my cousin. When I first met Paul, and learned he was my cousin.. it was so surreal.. he was so happy to meet me and we both just clicked as family and friends.. Though different , but we were sorta the same. In our talks,
I remember being so in awe of his motorcycle riding talent and he would speak of my sports playing and I would me so jealous of his music, writing and recording talent that just seemed to come so easy to him. He would talk to me about my theater/acting. It was funny how we just complimented each other and really appreciated each others talent, but for me he was the talent...just so special. I remember bringing over my puppy to his house and he was watching the movie "Top Gun" and the puppy and paul just took to each other.. he asked me if I have a name for him yet..I replied "NO, Not yet!" He then said " Goose" So that just was hahahahah for the both of us and then his eyes got big and sat up in his chair and staired at me and I said "what"? He yelled out "Maverick" wow he was more excited than I was. Well the name fit.
There were plenty of special moments for me and him and our family. Wow what a great spirit! Will be deeply missed! If you met him,,you were blessed! He truly touched all of us!

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Paul Hudgins... My cousin, my friend: The Hudgins family is very large and close to one another. I have to say that I am very proud that am a part of the family. We are very genuine, down to earth individuals and passionate people. Paul was one of us. Paul was us! If your met him, you loved him! He automatically made an imprint on you. His personality just jumped out and you felt very comfortable with him. I remember getting to know him when I was 10... and as the years went by we got closer as cousins.Paul would comment on my athletic skills, I would be in awe at his motorcycle riding skills and then he would compliment me on my theater/acting shows and i would be mesmerized at his music playing, writing and recording of music. One day he handed me a childrens book and said "read this and tell me what you think". My first thought was "wow this is great, where did you get this" He would just say I messed around a little and did it : Amazing!
I remember one day about 15 years ago I got a puppy, and went over to his place and he was watching the movie" Top Gun" I said "paul I am looking for a name for my puppy"! The puppy took right to him. Well Paul looks at me and said how about"Goose" hahhaha as we both got a big laugh. Then he got serious and excited and his eyes got big and just about jumped out the chair.. and said " Maverik" ! well it stuck and the name fit. wow he was more excited than I was!
I have many fond memories of paul and he will be greatly missed! He made a difference and touched my life as well as many others. I feel very blessed to have been a part of his life.

Paul was my cousin who lived many states away and although we only seen each other on a few occasions in our lives he will be greatly missed for he impacted everyones life that he touched. I remember the last time we saw him he had made such an impact on my son Camerons life.Paul had taken us out to fly his planes and my son just couldn't get enough of Paul.
Paul had an old four wheeler that wasn't working at the time that we got there but my son bugged him enough that Paul just couldn't say no to him and fixed it up for him to ride the week that we were there to visit. And then the day we went home back to Texas Paul had stayed up all night to burn Cameron a CD of his music so we would have and that was also special to us.I know he will be greatly missed my prayers go out to you Aunt Betty, Uncle Peewee,Sherry & Family,& Teresa & Family. We love you,

Paul Hudgins.......Man I have known him for a long time. He was my escape, my mentor,my light in the dark alot of times but most of all he was my friend. Everyone who knew him liked or loved him. My heart will be broken for a long time. At one time I considered him my only friend. I mean true friend. I am proud to have known and been a part of this mans life. All of my memories of Paul are good. He helped me through a lot of hard times. He always listened to me, even if he really didn't want to. Paul was definetly a diamond in the ruff. My heart goes out to his family and friends. I'll miss him for the rest of my life. GOD REST HIS SOUL.

Paul was such a talented person. I have many fond memories of him over the years. I also remember what a helpful person Paul was. He helped Kevin make a pinewood derby car for our son for cubscouts one year. It looked like a VET of course! Airbrushing that faded into 3 colors, "Tinted" windows cut out of electrical tape...I have a picture of that car taking 1st place!! Everything Paul did, he did to perfection. If he didn't do it right, he didn't do it at all. I know that Timmy will take good care of his dirtbike and is really proud to have it..though It will never be ridden the same.
My prayers go out to Pauls family..Know that he was Loved by All who knew him..and will be Deeply Missed.

I heard the news from Karyn Hodges on Thursday morning. I spoke with Betty, Sherry and Brandi on Thursday. I cried after talking to each of them. I am so sad. Today, I read Paul's obituary on-line. And washing my hair in the shower, I broke down. It finally hit me. Seeing the words in black and white, I realized that God had taken the one person I thought I'd never lose. And I also realized how blessed I had been to have been loved by Paul not once but twice. Loved unconditionally and passionately. When Paul did something, he was all in or not at all. For a long time I thought my Daddy was the best man in the world. Paul changed my mind. And for a moment in time, he was my very best friend. My thoughts and prayers are with him and his family now and always. I love you forever.
