Paulette WHARTON Obituary
She was born Aug. 11, 1946, in Newport News, Va., to the late Julian and Virginia McClenney. She was an active member of First Baptist Church East End.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul E. Wharton; daughter, Wanda Wharton; and brother , Melvin McClenney.
She is survived by three sons, Paul Wharton, Tony Wharton (Nichelle), and Todd Wharton; two daughters, Geneva Wharton (Gary), and Paula Sanders (Allen); life partner, Thomas Sanders; five brothers; two sisters; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
Viewing will be held from noon to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2009, at Cooke Bros. Funeral Chapel, 1601-27th Street, Newport News, VA (757) 380-0251. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 10, 2009, at First Baptist Church East End, 3000 Jefferson Avenue, Newport News. Family and friends are to assemble at 32 Colony Road, Newport News, by 10 a.m., for the procession to the church. To the children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and rest of the family:
I have been in a state of shock since receiving the news of my cousin and very good friend, Paulette's passing and have been praying for all of youl since then. She and I had a special bond for one another and although we did not get to see each other very often over the years, when we did talk or visit, it was as if we had never been seperated. When it get's to the point that you feel yourself breaking down, ask the Lord for strength and try to remember that she's in a place now where she doesn't have to worry about pain and suffering anymore and the main thing is that she's happy.
