To Lynne, Lithia, Phyllis and the family,

On reading of the passing of your brother Quinton, a rush of fond memories came to mind of our childhood on 36th Street. Although not related, your parents were always Aunt Lelia and Uncle Ralph to me because that is just how they made me feel, a part of a real family and looking back, there was always something going on in this little house with a big family; be it a sibling's marriage; the birth of a baby; a son's visit from the military; Lynne or Lithia arguing over whose turn it was to put the chickens in the coop; their arguments about scaling or gutting fish for the fish fry; whose turn it was to do the dishes; the mumbling; the eye rolling; waiting for the over town bus; shortcuts through the schoolyard. Those were only a fraction of memories of the Cofield family. But wait! There’s more; remembering names that went something like "Feedie", short for Phyllis, or "Fivey", short for Sharon; the thumb sucking and two fingers in a mouth of missing top teeth. You guys had it made from the good cooking; the home always smelling of disinfectant; the clothes dancing on the clothesline; Aunt Lelia always ironing everything to seeing Uncle Ralph always smiling as he walked across the grounds of Booker T. Washington "knocking off from work". He was tired, yet never complained. Yep! The family man he truly was. That was family and I thought you gals had the richest family in the world. Well, all of you are in my prayers and thoughts and be assured that by the Grace of God, Quinton is resting in peace.

Mr. Leslie Bailey

Q was one of the first guys that worked with me when I came to NNS, and we worked together many times over the years of our careers. He was an excellent mentor, always with good humor and proved to be a truly unique and original character. I count myself most fortunate and blessed to have known this wonderful person. God bless the family left behind. What a treat heaven will enjoy with Q.
