Ralph COX Obituary

GLOUCESTER - Ralph Glen Cox, 83, died Sunday May 30, 2010, following a short but courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Clinchfield, Va., he served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and retired after 24 years of service; followed by 10 years with the Norfolk Public Schools.
He was a hardworking, kind and giving man. He was loved by all who were privileged to know him and will be deeply missed.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 55 years, Alma P. Cox; his children, Tamara Elliott and husband, Bill, Kevin Cox and his wife, Tanner; grandchildren, Jena Elliott, Kevin Elliott, Meredith Cox, Libby Cox and his loyal dog, Gretchen.
He was predeceased by his parents, Ira and Ethel Cox; brothers, Leo, Dean, Karl, James Walter; sisters, Cleo, Norma Ruth and Evelyn Barbour.
The family would like to give special thanks to Roger Watkins, MD, Tom J. Smith, MD, Riverside Walter Reed Hospice, and all of his friends who gave so much of themselves during this difficult time.
Funeral and burial services will be held in Bland, Va.
