NEWPORT NEWS - Raymond Eugene "Gene" Foster, age 81, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012. He was a native of Buckroe Beach, Virginia, and was a lifelong Peninsula resident.
He was the owner and operator of Splash of Color painting company. Prior, he had worked as a car salesman for more than 25 years at various local dealerships on the Peninsula. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy and served during the Korean War. As a golf enthusiast, he enjoyed playing as often as possible. The Redskins have lost one of their most loyal fans. He was beloved by his family and will be truly missed.
Gene is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lynn Foster; parents, Harvey and Inez Foster; siblings, Lillian, Auburn, Virginia, and Mary.
He is survived by his companion of many years, Sara R. Stallings; children, Jeanie Lynn Drake, Paul Foster and wife, Adrienne, and Melanie Kay Hofe and husband, David; grandchildren, Zack, Max, Aubrey, Alex, Morgan, and Tanner; and six great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012, at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home. A celebration of Gene's life will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 15, 2012, at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park.
