Rebecca CARWILE Obituary

HAMPTON - Rebecca Carwile, 89, entered into eternal rest on April 5, 2010, with her family and caregiver by her side to join her Lord and other family members who were waiting for her in Heaven.
Becky was born in Echols, W.Va., on July 27, 1920.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Cornelius T. "Neal" Carwile.
Leaving behind to mourn her passing and cherish her memories are her sons, Bill and his wife, Debbie of Smithfield, Tucker of Hampton, and Johnny and his wife, Margaret of Hampton; her daughters, Barbara and her husband, Leonard Thomas and JoAnne and her husband, Charlie Ragland, all of Hampton; and her sister, Joan Carty, of Spring City, Tenn. Becky is also survived by her grandchildren, Melanie Kennedy, Lisa Bajus, Corey Carwile, Amie Tugwell, David Carwile, Bryan Castellow, Curtis Thomas and John Thomas; numerous great-grandchildren and granddogs.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to her caregivers, companions, and friends, Ammie Shaw and Renee Durant for their love and care of Becky.
Becky graduated from Longwood College and taught home economics prior to becoming a wife and mother. She was a member of Wythe Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday School and was a member of the Hampton Women's Club. She enjoyed playing bridge, needlework, crafts, and beachcombing.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Wythe Presbyterian Church of Hampton, Wythe Rescue Squad, or a favorite charity.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 10, at Wythe Presbyterian Church on the corner of Kecoughtan and Robinson Roads in Hampton, with burial to follow at Parklawn Memorial Park. View and post condolences on our online guestbook at dailypress.com/guestbooks.
