Richard Wallace Obituary

WILLIAMSBURG - Richard Bernard Wallace Sr. entered into eternal rest on Monday, Nov. 16, 2009, in Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center.
He was born on May 28, 1941, the son of the late Otelia and Floyd Wallace. His home is now the mansion Christ has prepared for him.
He was a faithful member of Mt. Nebo Baptist Church, Barhamsville, and he enjoyed doing the landscaping of the church's grounds. In June of 1990, he retired from Eastern State Hospital, after 27 years of service. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He leaves to mourn in his passing but to forever cherish his precious memories, his caring and loving wife of 46 years, Marie L. Wallace; his daughters, Ann Elder (Chris) and Candace Wallace (Angel); his sons, Richard Wallace Jr. (Sandra) and Floyd Wallace; his sisters, Irene Randall (Eddie Lee), Shirlene Clark and Ruby Whitaker; his brothers, Melvin Wallace and Sherman Wallace; his seven grandchildren; his five great-grandchildren; his devoted nephew, the Rev. Morris Randall (Helen); his devoted niece, Barbara Safewright; his two aunts, his three sisters-in-law; his four brothers-in-law; and a host of other loving relatives and many caring friends.
A funeral service will be held at noon Saturday, Nov. 21, 2009, in New Zion Baptist Church with Dr. Robert A. Whitehead and the Rev. Morris Randall officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Nebo Baptist Church Cemetery. Family and friends will assemble at 206 Jolly Pond Road by 11 a.m. Saturday. Mr. Wallace may be viewed in the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday.
