Although I really only met you as an adult, I always think of you as the cousins you are. From the early navy days, to the time you visited us with Elsie. I could see then how kind you were Gerry, and how glad I was that Dick was my cousin. I'm only sorry that I didn't get to know him better. I wish I could show my profound respect in person, and meet all your children and their progeny. I know that my father was proud of Dick's service to our country, just as I was excited to watch his ship pick up a space capsule when I was a young child. Boy I hope I remember that correctly. I have so many wonderful memories of grandkids birthday parties, with Grandpa Dick always in the middle, enjoying his family and treating my family as part of his own. Eric, Joseph, Shannon and I send our prayers and thoughts to the Marshall side of our family. May your memories and support from family and friends sustain you during this difficult time.

Dick has been part of our lives for so many years, it's difficult to realize that he is no longer here. When we think of him we see him working on his computer or adding to his Lionel train collection. He will be missed.

Dick you old dog. Look what you've gone and done, you've beat me up there. Well now you can argue with my wife, and all my Italian in-laws. You're outnumbered. You're gonna be missed old friend. We sure as hell have gone through a lot together. Camping, building, repairing cars, sick bay, hospitals, doctors, scouts. I didn't get to see you much while you were sick Dick, but my heart and prayers were always with you. When I came to the hospital and sat with you after you had passed,so many wonderful memories slid through my mind about you and I. Forty years is a lot not to forget, especially about the great times our families had together. Believe it or not, you taught me so much. Through all the heavy words you spit out, I picked out quite a few and learned a bunch. God less you old friend. Rest in peace. I'll do everything in my power to help Gerry as much as I can, just like you use to watch over Mary Ann when I was gone. Have no fear. Love Ron
