Richard INGRAM Obituary
Richard was born in Newport News and was a lifelong Peninsula resident. He was a 1975 graduate of Tabb High School and was employed with Measurement Specialties in Hampton, as an engineer, specializing in research and development. He was an avid NASCAR fan and had a passion for working with anything mechanical. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, and attended Providence United Methodist Church in Yorktown.
Richard was preceded in death by his mother, Helen C. Ingram.
He is survived by his father, Richard G. Ingram; his sisters, Cynthia G. Ingram of Yorktown, Va., Martha E. Ingram of Mechanicsville, Va., Diana "Dee" Ingram Burcher and her husband, Barry of Poquoson; his "only" nephew, Tyler Burcher of Poquoson; and his best friends, David Cianelli and Tim Worst of Yorktown. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 20, 2011, at Providence United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. tonight, April 19, in Amory Funeral Home, Grafton.

To the family and friends, I went to school with Richard and he was always a person of integrity and he always carried a smile on his face.

I met some of Richard's family while doing relief work on Shelly Lane. My husband, Clint, worked with Richard for several years at Siemen's Automotive. We'd often run into him in stores and talk for a while to catch up. We are very, very sorry for your loss. Richard was a great guy! Everyone loved and thought the world of him.

To Richard's friends and family,
Richard was taking part in the Nielsen TV ratings and I was his representative. I just visited Richard on April 14th to check out our equipment and this news just shocked me. Richard was one of, if not the nicest gentleman I have ever met. He will be sorely missed. On behalf of Nielsen and myself, our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.

To Richard's Family,
I had the pleasure of meeting Richard six years ago through David Cianelli and immediately knew he would be one of my friends too. He had an infectious smile with a unique sense of humor that will be remembered for years to come. I was so saddened when we learned of Richard's death on Saturday night shortly after the calm of the tornado. I will definitely miss him workng on my vehicles because he was the best! God must have needed a master mechanic and therefore he chose Richard. I bet he is up in Heaven right now in a magnificent garage tinkering with something mechanical. Richard was a mentor to many and I am sure his legend will live on through those he taught. My deepest sympathy to your family and may he rest in peace eternally.

I knew of 3 people that died from the tornados that we had in Gloucester.I never dreamed it would be someone that I went to school with that got killed by it. Never knew Richard lived in my area. My prayers go out to his family & Friends.

I lived in Gloucester for 8 years where I met Richard. He and I spent many hours togethar working in his garage and watching NASCAR races. I considered him as my best friend and will miss him more than anyone will know. May God bless his family in this trying time

I am so so very saddened by the loss of such a wonderful friend who could be counted on time after time no matter what. I will never forget how richard has helped me in many life situations with his great wisdom. got to spend a couple hours with him on saturday afternoon & am so happy for that time with him, never did i think it would be our last visit.
