WILLIAMSBURG - Robert "Billy" Achols was called to eternal rest on Wednesday, January 9, 2013, in Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center. His life's journey began on February 25, 1929, the son of the late Maggie and Hosea Achols, of West Memphis, Arkansas. He was a longtime and faithful member of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. "Billy," as he was so affectionately called, was formerly employed by the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation. He is now resting in the arms of Jesus, where he will find peace and joy. He leaves to treasure his blessed memories, his loving and devoted wife, Juanita Achols; his daughter, Carolyn Jackson Truss; his grandson, Nathaniel Truss; his great-grandson, Megas Truss; a host of other loving relatives and many caring friends. A celebration of his life will be held 12:00 noon on Wednesday, January 16, 2013, in Mt. Gilead Baptist Church with Bishop William Dawson officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Family and friends will assemble at 119 Church Street by 11:15 a.m. on Wednesday. Mr. Achols may be viewed in the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
