SEAVIEW - Robert D. Bois Sr., 80, husband of Anne Bois and a resident of Seaview, Va., passed away suddenly Monday, Aug. 6, 2012, at his residence.
A native of South Grafton, Mass., he was the son of the late David Bois and the late Albina Lucier Bois. Bob proudly served the nation for 22 years, including four years in the Navy during the Korean War aboard the USS Missouri and the USS Albany, and then 18 years in the U.S. Air Force, both in the U.S. and overseas, retiring as a master sergeant. After the military, he began a second career with the Virginia Marine Resources Commission, completing 18 distinguished years of service to the local community, retiring as captain for the Eastern Shore and Peninsula areas. Bob was an avid fisherman with many record catches, woodworking enthusiast, amateur photographer, and backyard gardener extraordinaire.
He will be deeply missed by his wife of 57 years; four children, Elaine Elkins, of Williamsburg, Va., Robert Bois Jr., of Mannheim, Germany, John Bois and his wife, Diane, of Panama City, Fla., Jeanne Winstead and her husband, Mike, of Newport News, Va.; brother, Charles Bois and his wife, Joyce, of Colorado; brother-in-law, Arthur Aubin of Massachusetts; seven grandchildren, Bennett Elkins, Warren Elkins, Keith Elkins, Leah Elkins, Lianne Turner Hedden and her husband, Eric, Robert Turner, Anne Marie Bois; other loving family members, Cheryl Elkins, Meghan Seaborn; many nieces, nephews, friends and finally his beloved feline companions, Joy and Tara.
He was predeceased by his sister, Lorraine Aubin and son-in-law, Steve Elkins.
Funeral services with military and VMRC honors will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 10, 2012, at St. Charles Catholic Church, 545 Randolph Ave, Cape Charles, Va., with Father J. Michael Breslin officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Charles Catholic Church, 545 Randolph Ave, Cape Charles, VA 23310.
