Robert McQUILLEN Obituary
Mr. McQuillen was born in Hampton, Va., and was the son of the late Orville Elliott "Cuz" and Connie Frances Dewar McQuillen. A computer programmer with the United States Coast Guard Base in Elizabeth City, he was a member of Albemarle Baptist Church and served as the secretary of the Elizabeth City Coast Guard Golf Association. A veteran, he had served in the U.S. Navy.
Surviving are his wife of 32 years, Brenda Strickland McQuillen; two daughters, Valerie Goodwin and husband, Marty of Tyner and Cherie Roberts and husband, John of Edenton; a sister, Ruth McHatton of Williamsburg, Va.; a brother, Cleve McQuillen of South Carolina; and three granddaughters, Gwendalynn Faircloth, and Brenna and Alyssa Goodwin.
A memorial service will be held Sunday at 5 p.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, by the Rev. Garry Mickey. Friends may join the family in the funeral home immediately following the service or any other time at the residence.
The family asks that flowers be omitted and contributions in his memory be made to any chapter of the American Cancer Society.

Brenda and Family, I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Robbie took me to my High School prom. I considered us good friends. I spoke with him alittle while back and he was telling me all about all of you. It was apparent that he was very proud of you girls. He emailed pictures and we talked about our families. I was shocked when I got the call from my family in Hampton this morning telling me they had read it in the paper. All my thoughts and prayers are with you all and may it be a comfort to know that I know he will always be watching over all of you.
