Robert BLACKWELL Obituary

NEWPORT NEWS - Robert T. Blackwell, 60, a resident of Newport News for over 20 years died Friday, Jan. 1, 2010.
He retired in 1988 from the U.S. Army as an Aircraft Mechanic and spent many years stationed at Ft. Eustis. Robert loved his work and was always fixing anything that was in need of repair. He is remembered for his generosity, his love for family and adoring his wife of 22 years, Mal Son.
Survivors include his wife, Mal Son Blackwell; three sons, Robert Joseph Blackwell, Michael Edward Blackwell, and James Anthony Blackwell; a stepson, Chong Hoo Kim; a stepdaughter, Su Chong Sullivan; his mother, Frances E. Patalive; his brother, William P. White; a sister, Kristine Evelyn De Barge; and five grandchildren, Nicole Catherine Blackwell, Jennifer Rene Blackwell, Madison Marie Blackwell, MacKenzie Patina Blackwell and Crystal K. Sullivan.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 7, 2010, at W. J. Smith and Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m., in the chapel with Eui Sin/Han officiating. Burial will follow at 1 p.m., with military honors, at Albert G. Horton Veterans Cemetery, Suffolk, Va.
