Roscoe REID Obituary

HAMPTON - Roscoe Reid, the seventh son of the late Edward "Ed" and Annie Mills Reid, was born Jan. 17, 1927, in Nassawadox, Va. He departed this life Oct. 12, 2010.
He was a member of the First Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ where he faithfully served until his health began to fail. During his illness, Roscoe did not complain. He would often say, "I'm okay," but we knew otherwise. He would tell us, "I'm not going anywhere until the Lord calls me."
He served in the United States Army during World War II and was honorably discharged in 1946.
Roscoe was married to the former Mary Knox of Brooklyn, N.Y., for more than 51 years. From that union, they were blessed with one son. Roscoe was a loving, caring and devoted husband and father. He was a true family man who loved and served the Lord.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Mary; one son, Kenneth (Elaine); three grandchildren, Christopher, Nicole and Cyndi; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Roscoe will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Viewing will be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 18, 2010, at Cooke Bros. Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be held at noon Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2010, at First Baptist Church of Hampton, 229 N. King Street, Hampton. Interment will follow in Hampton Memorial Gardens.
