Rudolph BLAHA Obituary

SEAFORD - Rudolph Louis Blaha, 89, died Friday, Jan. 7, 2011, at Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg after a brief illness.
A native of Dinwiddie County, he was an Army Air Corp Veteran and served in the South Pacific for 3 ½ years, worked with the National Park Service for 35 years, and then, worked with the State of Virginia in the Yorktown-Jamestown Settlement for 17 years. He was a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Yorktown.
He had been preceded in death by his wife, Mattie Bridgers Blaha; two sons, Joseph William Blaha and Albert Blaha; and a brother, Frank Blaha.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary Jane Blaha of Fredericksburg; two sisters, Mary Benitiz and Christine Valenta of Petersburg; and one brother, Tony Blaha, also, of Petersburg.
The family will receive friends at Bridgers Funeral Home, Inc. in Conway, N.C., Friday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and funeral services will be held there Saturday at 2 p.m. with Father Pius Wekesa presiding. Burial will follow in the Conway Cemetery.
The family has requested that in lieu of flowers memorial gifts be made to St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 316 Harris Grove Lane, Yorktown, VA 23692. View and post condolences on our online guestbook at dailypress.com/guestbooks.
