SMITHFIELD, VA - Sammy "Sam" Robert Naibauer, 65, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family, Wednesday, April 24, 2013, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Greeley, Colorado, Sammy was the son of the late Samuel and Enid Muriel Osborn Naibauer. He served his country twelve years in the US Navy, then made a career as a engineer designer at the Newport News Shipbuilding, retiring with thrity-four years of service. In addition to his parents, Sammy is preceded in death by a daughter, Muriel Rose Naibauer. He leaves to cherish his memories his wife of thirty-three years, Carole Cannon Naibauer; two sons, Samuel Edmond Naibauer of San Diego, CA. and Jacob Russell Naibauer and his wife, Nikki, of Smithfield; daughter, Evalyan Louise Frazier, and her husband, Matthew, of Norfolk; and five grandchildren, Aaliyah, Anthony, Amaiyah, Alexis, and Ashlee; his mother-in-law, Evalyn Cannon, and a host of extended family. The family will receive friends 2:30-3:30 pm, Sunday, April 28, in Colonial Funeral Home, Smithfield. A graveside funeral service will be held 11:00 am, Monday, April 29, in St. Luke's Memorial Park, with Rev. Lee Hess officiating.
