Shepherd Westcott Obituary
Ed was a lifelong resident of Seaford, and a lifelong member of Zion United Methodist Church. He retired from local 1340 in December 1974. He was a member of the Yorktown Lions Club, the Methodist Men, The Builder's Class, The Seaford Seven and the Lighthouse Chorus. He was an avid camper and crab potter. Ed was a loving and devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Ed was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Katherine Crockett Westcott.
He is survived by his sons, Clarence F. Westcott and his wife, Carol of Seaford, David C. Westcott and his wife, Cathy of Seaford; a daughter, Sandra Westcott Emerson and her husband, Wray of Seaford; a sister, Lila Shockley of Richmond, and a sister-in-law, Rose Westcott of Yorktown. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Tracy Hill and her husband, Charles, Carla Gomez and her husband, Sam, Rick Emerson and his wife, Trish, Chase Emerson, Wes Westcott, Brooke Emerson and Anne Emerson; and six great-grandchildren, Jessica Gomez, Tyler Gomez, Taylor Gomez, Nicholas Hill, Ashleigh Hill and Ezekiel Emerson.
The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to Darlene Pauls, for her dedicated and loving support throughout the years; Randy and Gail Stathers and the staff of Home Helpers, for their care and compassion; and Tiffany and the staff of Mary Immaculate Bon Secours Hospice.
Family and friends will be gathering at the home of his daughter, Sandra Emerson.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 26, 2009, at Zion United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until service time. Interment will follow at Peninsula Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Zion UMC Building Fund, P.O. Box 240, Seaford, VA 23696.

David, Sandra and the rest of the family Esta and I were very sorry to hear of Edwards passing.Though we were unable to attend the funeral our thoughts and prayers are with you and we extend our deepest sympathy to the family.I have many good memories of days bygone of clamming off Goodwins Island and rafting up in Claxton Creek with Edward and Catherine. He was a great person and will be deeply missed.

I was so sorry to hear about your grandfather's passing. When your Mom called last week to cancel your appointment, she told me things were not good.Please know that you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. It is never easy to lose a loved one, but may the beautiful memories you shared help comfort you during this difficult time. It is always great to see you and your Mom when you come in for your follow up visits with Dr. Wyatt. I've seen many patients and their families over the years and some just have a way of making a beautiful lasting impression. You and your Mom are two of them!
