Just found out about Shirley's death today when my annual Christmas card was returned. So sorry to hear of her passing. We met in September, 1993, on a University of Michigan-sponsored tour of China. We renewed acquaintances on two occasions, as recently as December, 2008, when I visited her in Williamsburg. I certainly enjoyed her friendship over the years. Condolences to her extended family.
