Sidney F. MILBOURNE

WILLIAMSBURG - Sidney Francis Milbourne passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 20, 2010.
He was born on Jan. 6, 1923, in Crisfield, Md., to Lillian Daugherty and John Milbourne. Sid was preceded in death by his brother, Jack.
He received his B.A. from the University of Maryland, College Park. Sid proudly served in the U.S. Navy as a Chief Medic in the South Pacific during WWII. Following his naval career, he was a Lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force Reserve. After the military, he was employed by GEICO in Washington, D.C., and was later transferred to New York to become their Regional Sales Director. He retired from GEICO after 30 years of service and moved from Long Island to Williamsburg. Sid enjoyed all sports and was an avid golfer. He also enjoyed boating on the Chesapeake Bay with his family.
Sid is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Beverly; daughter, Linda, and her husband, Art, who reside in Annapolis, Md.; and their son and wife, John and AimEe who reside in Dayton, Ohio.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 22, at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Rd., Williamsburg. A mass of the Christian burial will be held 9 a.m. Friday, April 23, at St. Bede Catholic Church, 3686 Ironbound Rd., Williamsburg. Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
