NEWPORT NEWS - Thomas "Ed" Brown died peacefully at home on Friday Sept. 13 after a long illness. Born on Nov. 2, 1940, Ed was a Army Veteran and retired as a Lieutenant from the N.N. Fire Dept. He was an avid golfer and former member of the Williamsburg Country Club. Ed is survived by his loving wife Kay Hancock-Brown, his son Eddie Brown of Gloucester; stepsons, Lee Boerner, Steve Boerner, and John Boerner, and their mother, Margie Walters, of Gloucester; a very special niece Lauren Hancock and nephew Alan Hancock of the home, his brother Fred Brown (Sue) of Newport News; sister Lucy Hardee; sister Patricia Tyler both of Loris, S.C. and a host of nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday Sept. 18 at Peninsula Funeral Home officiated by Clarence Hilling with a visitation following the service until 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the SPCA or Humane Society would be appreciated. The family would like to thank our friends and family for their care and support during this time.
