Tommie COCHRAN Obituary

CARROLLTON - Tommie Everette Cochran, 71, passed away on Friday, Sept. 3, 2010, at his home.
He was a Newport News resident for 12 years before moving to Carrollton in 1992. Tommie served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War and retired after 21 1/2 years of service. After retirement he worked as a Field Tech for Cummins Allison Corporation. He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Nina Cochran; three children, the Rev. David Cochran and his wife, Vicky, of Jackson, Ga., James Cochran and his wife, Patty, of Poquoson, and Janet Blow and her husband, Allan, of Midlothian; four stepchildren, Donnie Sentell and his wife, Georgette, of Hickory, N.C., Drema Moore and her husband, Lynn, of Yorktown, Jerry Lowder of Yorktown, and Christy Cooksey and her husband, Randy, of Matthews; one sister, Juanita Tawney of Augusta, Ga.; 10 grandchildren and 13 stepgrandchildren; and two great-grandchildren and four step-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Geraldine Cochran; and one son, Michael Cochran.
Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 6, 2010, at W. J. Smith & Son Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2010, in the chapel of W. J. Smith & Son Funeral Home with Dr. Grant Ethridge officiating. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 11835 Canon Blvd., Suite A102, Newport News, VA 23606.
