Travis JONES Obituary

NEWPORT NEWS - Life begins, life moves on and then life ends. The end for our loved one, Travis Lamont Jones, came on Monday, May 31, 2010, at Riverside Regional Medical Center.
He was born on March 19, 1989, to Thomas and Krishna Gilliam Jones in Plymouth, N.C.
He received his high school diploma in 2007 through the Newport News School system. Travis joined Miracle Temple at an early age where he served as a 'Youth Church Deacon.'
Travis, a hard, ambitious and dedicated worker, was employed by Smithfield Packing Company. Despite his quiet demeanor, he enjoyed telling jokes, making people laugh and just having fun and spending time with his sisters and brother. Additionally, Travis prided himself in looking good with a fresh haircut, jewelry and a crisp, clean outfit.
Travis leaves to cherish his precious memory, his parents, Thomas and Krishna Jones; two sisters, Lateisha and Lashauna Jones; and a brother, Thomas Jr. (T.J.) all of Newport News; loving grandparents, Carrie Gilliam of Windsor, N.C., and Grant and the Rev. Ruby Gilliam of Baltimore, Md.; one very special niece, Mylashia Jones of Newport News; three aunts, 10 uncles; and a host of cousins and other relatives.
Viewing will be held today from noon to 7 p.m. at Cooke Bros. Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be held at noon Saturday, June 5, 2010, at Miracle Temple Baptist Church, with Pastor Floyd Blackwell, officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Condolences may be sent to www.cookebros.com. View and post condolences on our online guestbook at dailypress.com/guestbooks.

To the Jones Family

Our thoughts and prayers are with you as you go through this time of bereavement. I will never forget Travis' willingness to serve as a junior deacon for me anytime I asked him. I can also remember very vividly Travis' participation in the Boys to Men Ministry. We had also recently reconnected on facebook as well. My family and I will remember the great times we shared with Travis. We will continue to keep you all in our prayers.
