Van GRAY Obituary

IVOR - Van Buren Gray Jr. 'Bill', 82, passed away Saturday, Oct. 2, 2010.
Born in Manteo, N.C., he was preceded in death by his parents, Van Buren Gray Sr. and Betty Lee Etheridge Gray; and his two sisters, Gilda Hosteller and Ima Jean Herring.
Bill honorably served in the Army-Air Force as well as the merchant marines. He retired as the owner of Capt. Bill's Seafood in Williamsburg, Va.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Fancheon Kuehn Gray. Left to cherish his memory are his four children, Gwendolen Haskell (Frank) of Mass., Zane Gray (Teresa) of Newport News, Shirlene Harper (Tom) of Smithfield and Cathleen Gray of Newport News; as well as one brother, Phillip Maynard Gray of North Carolina. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Anthony Strickland, Brooke DeLatte, Justin Haskell, Sarah Haskell, Holly Gray, and Autumn Wallace; two great-grandchildren, Makala Calhoun and Cora DeLatte; five nieces and one nephew.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 7, at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, 6329 Virginia Beach Blvd., Norolk, VA 23502.
