Veronica BOWMAN Obituary
She was born on Feb. 4, 1958 in Williamsburg, Va. She resided in Newport News. Veronica was employed as a Master Hair Stylist at JC Penney, as well as an associate at Tuesday Morning.
She is survived by her fiancE, Byron Keith Darcus; her daughters, Aminata Smiley and Natalia Bowman; her grandson, Pryce Barnes; and her loving parents, Ruth and Frank Price, all of Newport News; her grandfather, Mack Henry Banks of Williamsburg; her sisters, Irene Hopkins (Reginald), Ruth Barnes (Roderick), and Camala Price; her brother, Frank Price (Beverly); a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The viewing will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2009, at Whiting's Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at noon Dec. 23, 2009, in Little Zion Baptist Church, 8525 Pocahontas Trail, Williamsburg, VA 23185, with the Rev. Linwood Gatling presiding. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Family and friends will gather by 10:30 a.m., at 187 Stony Ridge Court, Newport News, for the funeral precession.
Donations may be made in the name of Veronica Bowman to the Children's Hospital of King's Daughter's Neonatal Unit, 601 Children's Lane, Norfolk, VA 23507.

I miss my mother so much. I never got to show you how much you have thought me . How much I craved your acceptance and praise. I never got to properly thank you for helping me raise my baby or naming him. So many things that were left unsaid. I still cant believe you are gone. Although I don't think you knew it, but you were my favorite person in the whole wide world to me and I wanted to be just like my mom. I look like you... I sound like you... I love hair just like you...my nose is pierced just like you... Its sometimes hard to even look in the mirror. Even now. Sometimes you just jump right out of my mouth... and even now it still surprises me. I miss you mom . Since you have been gone I haven't been able to pull myself together. I don't think I ever will. No one knows the special. .. tumultuous. .. bond that we shared. You were ny best friend mom and your gone way too soon. I need you so much . I know I've been all over the world.. lots of times without you... but having to live without you totally has torn me completely apart. No one knows how truly lost your little girl is. I wish I could just hear your voice. ..your laugh... the way you sucked yoyr teeth and said ' Amin please ! ' sometimes I dont know how I even make it thru the day. Pryce has so much of your personality too... many things he says and does remind me if you. We talk about you a lot. We both had a really hard time with your passing. No one could even see or hear us for their own grief though. You impacted so many lives... friends and family alike. My mother... so amazing... so truly loved... so beautiful. .. so Ronnie B. I miss you to the moon and back mom. See you next go round. I love you to death and beyond.

I am a friend of Ms. Bowman's daughter, Natalia. I didn't find out about her passing until after New Year's, but having conversed with Natalia on a number of occasions about her mom, I was extremely shocked and saddened to hear the news about her death. Her family is in my continuous thoughts and prayers.

“Ranie” - my big sister, my loyal friend, my hero! I love you so much more than you’ll ever know. I’ve walked in your footprints in hopes of making you proud. In my times of joy and need you were always with me, always there for me and there for Morgan, Sara, and Nevie “aka my little people”. I have such fond memories: the laughter, the tears, the guidance and course corrections, even the road trips to the diamond mine in Arkansas, to Little Rock, to Oklahoma, to Dallas, to the Alamo, to Austin, to Houston, to Corpus Christi, to Hawaii, and so many other places. You have always been with us and will be in our hearts forever. We will be with you again in the next life.

Dear Ronnie you will never be gone to me. I know you are in the presence of the Lord as I will be one day also. You were the best big sis that anyone could have ever asked for even though we had our ups and downs and our little spats you always had my back. They say that you and I always were the wild and crazy ones in the family but thats what kept us so close cause we were on the same page whether it was going to lunch chatting about our kids or grandchildren or just gossiping we could have some great talks. You did my hair for my wedding. You ran out and purchased all of the little extra things that I still needed after my son was born. You told me how proud you were of me when I graduated college. You cooked tasty meals with anything you could find in the kitchen, and you didn't care how much I ate..and ate...and ate. I think of you every time I make a cake (LOL) :) You were soooo awesome! Eventhough you were taken from me prematurely, you will forever live in my heart.

Mommy Ronnie, I haven't known here that long but in the short couple of years I have grown to love her and respect her. I will always remember her laugh and her hilarious one liners that would find voice at the perfect moment in just about every conversation we have had. Like when we were all going to the movies and I yelled at a car for cutting me off, she quickly said, "Nat, put your seatbelt on, she has road rage" which sent us all into hysterical laughter. She was kind and generous and honest to a fault. She told it like it was and worried about feelings later. She provided me with a wonderful friend in Natalia, she raised a wonderfully amazing woman who is one of my closest friends. I promise to take good care of Natty, since you no longer can, I will be there to listen to her when she wants to talk, laugh when she wants to laugh, and "spoon" when she wants to watch tv on the rare occassion she wants to cuddle, lol. It is sad to loose such a beautiful spirit. I just saw Ms. Bowman earlier this month for her appointment and now suddenly she is not with us anymore.... To the family, only time can heal your lost and may God be with you during your time of need.

God is so faithful in the things that we so desire of and want from him so much that he was willing to give his only son. We can't prepare our hearts for times such as this and there will always be that question why. Just know those tears you cry are valid, the pain you feel is valid and the love you feel for your beloved Mother, Grandmother, Daughter, Sister and Friend, is justified and because of God being who he is in our lives, the friend, the comforter, the lover of our souls, trust and believe that all is well. my other mommy, she was kind and loving and honest, a generous person with a heart of gold. I didn't know her that long but in the short time I grew to love her. Ms. Ronnie was a kindhearted and loving person.
I only knew her for a short time, but she always greeted me with open arms and treated me like family. Her passing truly breaks my heart.

I have not known Ronnie for many of years or was a close friend of hers. I however knew her form the salon that she worked at. She was such a funny and nice person. Aunt Ronnie... You have always been the closest to being my mom aside from my own. i can still here your voice on the answering machine yelling, "Reeeeene, pick up the phone. I know L'tese is in there watching tv!". I miss you so much its crazy... Amin and I were just talking yesterday, and I told her how I wanted to call you after I got off the other day to see if you could pick up Frank. He still says your name... I was shocked to learn of Ronnie's passing. I remember Ronnie from Little Zion Baptist Church.I had not seen her for some time, but her picture reminded me of the beautiful smile I always saw on her face.

Heaven has truly gained an angel. Ms. Ronnie was one of the most sweetest, kindest most giving person I have ever met. She could make you laugh in any situation. I can remember when my son and I had no place to live, Ms. Ronnie opened her doors to us and made sure we felt right at home. Ms. Ronnie will truly be missed. Amin and Nat, thank you so much for sharing your mother with me, she was a wonderful example of a mother and best friend. To the Price and Bowman Families,
My prayers are with you and your family. I will never forget when I called to the Newport News Jcpenneys about 5 years ago in dire need of a hair appointment. I simply stated I needed someone who could do a relaxer and was available for a morning appointment. The receptionist simply stated I'll make your appointment with Ronnie and it was that simple that we connected. I loved coming to the salon for my appointments and I loved talking with Ms. Ronnie sharing the week's events, stories, laughing over relationships, tv and everything in between. I felt like I have lost my cool "aunt" not just a stylist. Of course, I'll find another stylist but I will never have another Ms. Ronnie. I'll miss you so much!.

I was blessed to know Ronnie for 7 years - she was such a special friend and I was heartbroken to hear of her passing.
