Vincent RAMSEY Obituary

LEXINGTON - Vincent Aster Ramsey, 93, died naturally and peacefully, Friday, Aug. 27, 2010, at Kendal Nursing Home in Lexington, Va.
Born April 8, 1917, in the Snow Creek Community of Franklin County, he was the son of Will Lee Ramsey and Belva Turner Ramsey. He lived for 67 years in Hampton, Va., where he was an active member of the Colonial Place Church of Christ. He retired from the Newport News Shipbuilding and DryDock Company, in 1980, after 40 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Roxie Denzel Ramsey; and two brothers, Artis Ramsey of Collinsville, Va., and Quinton Ramsey of Martinsville, Va.
He is survived by two daughters, Shirley Stolarz and her husband, Bob of Fairfield, Va., and Gale Burns of Winston-Salem, N.C. He will be greatly missed by his four grandchildren, Michelle Field and husband, Richard, Michael Stolarz and wife, Mary Curtis, Stephanie Johnson and husband, Michael, and Corinne Makdisi and husband, Joe; also five great-grandchildren, Justin, Hannah and Caitlyn Field, and Mead and Turner Stolarz.
A graveside gathering of family and friends will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2010, at Peninsula Memorial Park in Newport News.
The family wishes to express appreciation to the Kendal Nursing Home and Rockbridge Hospice, for their kindness and support to him and his family.

To the family of Mr Ramsey,
The Ramseys were our neighbors two doors down on Albany Drive. They were great neighbors. Mr. Ramsey rode to work with me for several years before he retired. He was a good employee and a great person. God bless you all. Hold on to the memories.
