Vinson CROCKER Obituary

NEWPORT NEWS - Vinson David Crocker, 91, departed this life on Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2010.
He was born in Hopson, Va., and moved to Newport News, Va., over 76 years ago. He was employed by Longshoreman from Oct. 1, 1960 and retired on Dec. 1, 1972. He was a faithful Deacon at the Gospel Spreading Church of God in Newport News.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Vernell Watkins Crocker; his son, David Crocker; his daughter, Charlene Robinson; and his granddaughter, LaTonya Robinson.
He is survived by his children, Vernell Wynder Patrick (Donald), Elton Crocker, Estella Everett (Curtis), Barbara Ann Crocker, Thurman Crocker, Brenda Ruth Oakcrum (Marvin), Calvin Crocker; his twin sister, Annie V. Bailey; his sisters, Esther Morring, Mary Lee Hall, Manie Clifton; two brothers, Sherrick Crocker and Melvin Crocker; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one great great-grandchild; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
The wake will be held from 1 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 30, 2010, at the funeral home. Funeral service will be noon Friday, Oct. 1, 2010, at Gospel Spreading Church of God, 1816 Jefferson Avenue, Newport News, VA. Pastor, Elder James Johnson will officiate.
