Virgil DUNCAN Obituary
Born in Carroll County, Va., and had been a Hampton resident for many years. Mr. Duncan served in the U.S. Army and retired as manager with National Garages. He was a member of Newmarket Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Rachel Mills Duncan; three children, Carl R. Duncan of Hampton, Brenda D. Mendenhall of Yorktown, and David A. Duncan of Hampton; one sister, Estelle Jackson of Mt. Airy, N.C.; two grandsons, 2d Lt. Ryan D. Mendenhall, USAF, of Columbus, Miss., and Kevin R. Mendenhall of Yorktown.
Visitation will be from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 11, 2010, at W. J. Smith & Son Funeral Home. A memorial service will immediately follow at 1:30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Skip Hathaway officiating. Burial will follow in Hampton Veterans Memorial Gardens.

I am so sorry to hear about the loss of Mr. Duncan. Know that I am thinking of you all and that my prayers are with you. Mr. Duncan was a very sweet man and always made me feel that I was a part of the family as I grew up with Brenda. I know that he is in heaven watching over you all.
