HAMPTON - Wade A. Cunningham, born in Fort Eustis, Virginia on September 19, 1949 to the late Geneva and Willie C. L. Cunningham, Sr. was called to his heavenly home on July 17, 2013. Wade joined hands with Christ at Little Zion Baptist Church in Hampton where he was baptized at an early age. Upon graduation from Hampton High School, Wade began his employment at Newport News Shipyard. He entered the United States Air Force where he proudly served for 20 years. After retirement, Wade received an Associates Degree from Thomas Nelson Community College and was later employed by Greyhound Bus Company. Wade was a member of the American Legion Post 1997 and the Retired Armed Forces Club where he served as chaplain. His wives, Beverly Ann Crowell Cunningham and Cynthia Bradley Cunningham, two siblings, Kathryn C. Miles Sabb and Ronald B. Cunningham Sr and his stepson, Richard Stockdale predeceased Wade. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Susan Stockdale Cunningham; his daughter, Melinda Davis, his step-children, Robin Crowell Carr, Kelly Crowell, Raymond and Kevin Crowell, Patrick M. Grey, Davitta Bradley Ealy, Marie Stockdale and Monique Jackson and several grandchildren; two brothers, Willie C.L. Cunningham, Jr. (Irene) and Cary D. Cunningham, Sr. (Roslyn), four sisters, Barbara C. Rhone (Charles), Janice C. Wilson (Alvin), Brenda C. Mauney (Melville), and Pamela C. Sookins (John); several nieces and nephews, lifetime friend, William Mullins, and a host of other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends on Monday, July 22 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Cooke Brothers Funeral Home. Wade's homegoing will be held Tuesday, 1:00 p.m. at Bethel Manor Chapel, 1793 First Avenue, Hampton. Interment is at Hampton Veterans Memorial Garden.
