William BRINKLEY Obituary
He attended public schools in Newport News. He lived and worked in Chicago, Ill., for many years working as a male attendant.
He later returned home to Newport News and was the custodian at Wesley Grove United Church of Christ, where he retired after many years of service.
He was a former member of Zion Baptist Church in Newport News, Va., and the Pandora Lodge # 2 in Newport News.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Alfred Brinkley; nephew, Walter Woodley; and niece, Portia Woodley.
He leaves to cherish his memory three sons, Randy, Timothy and Anthony Brinkley; two daughters, Tarynal Mitchell and Teresa Brinkley; grandchildren; two loving and devoted sisters, Effie A. Brinkley and Mary Brinkley McClinton; special niece, Rhonda Graves; a great-niece; two great-nephews; special cousins; other relatives and friends.
Viewing will be held today from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Cooke Bros. Funeral Chapel, and two hours prior to the service on Saturday at the church. Funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 2, 2010, at Gethsemane Baptist Church, 3509 Chestnut Avenue, Newport News, with Pastor Dwight Riddick, officiating.
