William WILSON Obituary

GLOUCESTER - William James Lindbergh Wilson, passed away on Nov. 7, 2010, at Riverside Walter Reed Hospital.
Bill was born in San Diego, Calif., on March 11, 1928, and attended Point Loma High School in San Diego. Bill served in the United States Air Force for four years. He graduated from San Diego State University with a degree in Zoology and maintained contact with his fraternity brothers (Pi Kappa Alpha) throughout the years. While attending college, he and his buddies that were in the Air Force together spent summers working for the U.S. Forestry Service in Northern California. Bill retired from the Finance Division of GMAC and then taught advanced math classes for grades sixth through eighth at Ware Academy for 18 years. He enjoyed teaching and devoting time to helping the children and quickly gained the respect of the children and fellow teachers. He was a member of the Art Association through VA Museum of Art. His hobbies were many, traveling with family and dear friends, working at home in his yard and garden, being on the river, boating, crabbing, fishing, swimming, reading, golfing and bird watching. He loved poker and his poker buddies were the highlight of his life.
He is survived by his wife, Cary Wilson; children, Julie Wilson, Anne T. Maclennan, Noni Wilson and Celeste R. Wilson; brothers, Theodore Wilson and Richard Wilson; sisters, Tyna Brown and Susan Hartman; grandchildren, Chenelle J. Clements and Sean Wilson; great-grandchildren, Joshua G. Clements, Tyler Clements, Lucas Clements and Ashley Clements.
A private ceremony will be held with family and close friends.
Bill was an avid animal lover and his closest companions were his dogs, Baxter and Hardy.
Per his wishes memorial contributions may be made to the Gloucester-Mathews Humane Society, P. O. Box 385, Gloucester, VA 23061.

May you find peace in knowing Bill is with our heavenly father. He and I worked together at Ware Academy. My daughter was in the fourth grade when she first met Mr. Wilson. She is now a college student but remembers well his smile and his thoughtfulness. I will miss running into him at the grocery store, catching up and sharing a hug. We are both sad at his passing, but smile when we think of the kind man who always took the time for others.

Dear Mrs. Wilson and Family:

We were saddened to hear about the passing of Mr. Wilson. He taught our daughters at Ware Academy and he was a fine gentleman and wonderful teacher. We always enjoyed seeing him around Gloucester, he would always ask about our girls and then share fond memories from his teaching days. Please know that the family has been in our thoughts and prayers.
