NEWPORT NEWS - William 'Will' R. Bonnett, 90, passed away Sunday, July 15, 2012, at his home. He was a native of Fort Eustis.|
His love of life included family pets, 'Ford' and 'Buddy,' skin diving, sailing, memories of Panama, Purple Martins, double talk and gardening. He was a dispatcher for the fire and police dept. of Warwick County, City of Warwick and City of Newport News and retired from codes compliance dept. of Newport News.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest F. and Jane Bonnett; his sister, Martha Connett; brothers, Thomas J. Bonnett, and Ernest F. Bonnett.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Joan Kegley Bonnett; his sons, Eric W. Bonnett, Leif T. Bonnett; his brother, Charles A. Bonnett and wife, Helen. Also survived by two brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law, and many loving friends, nephews, nieces, great-nephews, great-nieces, great-great-nephews, and great-great-nieces.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 24, 2012, at First United Methodist Church, 10246 Warwick Blvd., Newport News.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bereavement Committee of First United Methodist Church, the music fund of St. George's Episcopal Church, 15446 Warwick Blvd. Newport News, or
