William Corbett Obituary

HAMPTON - Col. William T. "Bill" Corbett, (U.S. Army, retired), died Sunday, Nov. 15, 2009.
A native of Sylvester, Ga., he had been a Hampton resident since 1995.
He was a graduate of Florida State University and received an M.A. from Georgetown University with a degree in Politics. He also graduated from the National War College.
A Paratrooper in the Special Forces, Col. Corbett served a wartime tour in Vietnam, served in Korea and was stationed in Germany. He retired in 1983 with more than 31 years of service to his country. After his retirement, he operated a security service in Europe and worked as a consultant with ABC Television in their London Bureau. He also wrote extensively for many newspapers including the New York Times, USA Today, the Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal and locally for the Daily Press. An avid fisherman and golfer, he was a member of the Langley Air Force Base Golf Club.
Survivors include his wife, Christiane J. Corbett; three daughters, Catherine T. Corbett, Karen L. Ramos and Elizabeth A. Corbett; a granddaughter, Marina A. Ramos; and his brother, Charles D. Corbett.
A graveside service with full military honors will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 21, 2010, in Arlington National Cemetery. The family will be at home at other times.

I can hardly express what an honor It is to have had the priveldge of not only meeting Bill but also being part of his family. My daughter Marina is blessed to have had you in her life and your many contributions to her well being will never be forgotten.
You were a patriot and a gentleman and you will be missed.
