William ADAMS Obituary
A native of Edenton, N.C., he was a Peninsula resident for the past 53 years. He was a graduate of the Newport News Apprentice School and retired in 2000, after 42 years of dedicated service. Bill was a member of the Apprentice School Alumni Association, the Mariner's Club, the May Club, the Progressive Club, and was in the Marine Corps Reserves for seven years.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 49 years, Leona F. Adams; three daughters, Cheryl Toms and her husband, Dwight of Yorktown, Casey Adams of Newport News, and Frances Adams of Hampton; his sister, Barbara Davis and her husband, Talmage of Nags Head, N.C.; three grandchildren, Lindsey and Lauren Toms, and Alexandra Adams; and his great-grandson, Noah Spaulding.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 30, 2010, at Weymouth Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 31, 2010, at Weymouth Funeral Home Chapel, by the Rev. William Davidson, with interment to follow in Peninsula Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lustgarten Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research, 1111 Stewart Ave., Bethpage, NY 11714.

Leona, Cheryl, Frances, and Casey It is hard to express what Bill meant to my family. I could not have found a better neighbor and friend than Bill and Leona. Since 1997 we stayed in touch and I always felt like part of your extended family. I did alot of growing up on Menchville Road and the many hours spent in the drive way "shooting the bull" will be a memory that will stay with me forever. I miss you Ole Buddy.

Bill has been my best friend since I moved here in November 1992. Bill and I have had breakfast almost every Saturday for the past 14 years. Our daughter knows Bill and Leona as Uncle Bill and Aunt Leona. It's so sad losing someone like Bill.
