Hello Dorothy, I´m sure you no longer remember me, but we met once when I came to visit Winston and at which time my car broke down while there. I had to leave soon after but I informed Winston my brother would come through and remove the car. My brother never did, and Winston informed me that he had to remove the car... which I totally understood and expressed my gratitude for his assistance (...we are talking some 30+ years ago). My visit with him was the last time that I saw him or you, but I never forgot my friendship with your husband or that you collected stamps. Winston and I were good friends at ECSU and moreover, we pledged together as well. We also stayed together off campus our final year at College, which allowed his brother, Donnell Harrell, to visit once or twice. Donnell may not remember me but I never forgot that he wanted to be a mortician. With encouragement, I believe he met his goal. During our senior year, both of us were encouraged by one of our teachers to apply to graduate school ...She was encouraging Winston more so than me because he had shown his talent and he was a bit more settled to handle issues. On the other hand, I could not believe how lacks he was about the encouragement from our teacher, but I stayed on him and rode him hard to apply because he was in a better position to be accepted than me. Both of us were in the same boat financially. We had no money, but U of Wis. would give us both a full ride if we were accepted. I think he reiterated to apply just to get me off of his back. My visit that time included encouragement once again. He never said for sure if he did apply as I also knew he could be withdrawn, stubborn at times and less trusting of others. Anyway, I liked Winston. He was tuff, honest, driven, dependable and had a great demeanor and smile about him. I just wanted people to know what I knew about him and his talent. On this day 12 6 24, I happened to be on my computer, thinking about him and wondered how might I contact my long lost friend. When I saw his name associated with Legacy, I froze but my heart sped up when I attempted to catch my breath. When I got a hold of my self and looked at the name again my heart stopped pounding so much when I realized this was a different person, However, further down the row I saw the name again and I immediately clicked because I could no longer take the rush build up. When his picture flashed up I slumped, teared and just stared at the picture until I finally accepted that my best friend had moved on. I always thought one day I would surprise him but I´ve waited to long for that earthly meet to happen. Dorothy, my heart is no longer pounding as fast because I know Winston touched a lot of people before his journey. I have no doubt. Moreover, I know that he left you with a smile rather than a frown. Winston will always be my dear friend and I´m so happy that I had a chance to meet you. Take care of yourself Lady, Lindsay Carmon, ECSU class of 1971

To Dorothy,We are saddened to see Mr. Winston pass on to eternal life. It was an honor for me to get to know him and I appreciated very much our talks and his advice. He gave me a lesson about living and fighting for and enjoying life. I will truly miss him. He was so fortunate to have a spouse like you and I was able to see through your actions how you were with him every step of the way. He was truly blessed to have you as a wife. You serve as an inspiration to all of us.
