YORKTOWN - Although she will be greatly missed, we know that Heaven gained an angel on Saturday, March 15th. Edith Lane Robinson Shelton, 75, passed away unexpectedly with family at her side. She was born in Roanoke Rapids, NC and was a resident of the peninsula for 71 years. She was a graduate of Warwick High School class of 1956 and Hampton Roads Business College. She worked as a secretary in civil service and cared for children in her own home. Her life's passion was being a loving wife, mother, and "Memaw." She was preceded in death by her parents Harry and Louise Robinson, one of her sisters Eugenia Bell, and nephew Kevin Davis. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Richard R. Shelton, 3 children, Robin Teller, Renee Smith, Rick Shelton, and their spouses, Bill Teller, Barry Smith, and Sharon Singleton. "Memaw" leaves her 6 angels (grandchildren) "Willie" Teller, Wade Smith, Timmy Teller, Jeremy Teller, Cole Smith, and Gracie Smith with many special memories. She is also survived by 3 brothers and 3 sisters: Anne Davis, Harry Robinson, Janice Colbert, Arnold Robinson, Keith Robinson, Virginia Conway, and numerous nephews, nieces and friends. A memorial service will be held, Wednesday, March 19th at 6 pm at Peninsula Funeral Home.
