Sang Macauley Obituary
YORKTOWN, VA. - Sang Macauley, beloved mother and grandmother, found eternal peace on April 12, 2014 at her daughter's home in Yorktown. She was born on August 6, 1935 in Pohang, South Korea. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, MSGT Richard "Rick" Macauley, who went before her in April 2008, and her son-in-law, Chris Floyd, who passed in December 2007. Sang met Rick in South Korea while he was stationed at Osan Air Base and they were married 49 years. She enjoyed her life as a military wife and made friends everywhere she went. She and Rick were lifelong Catholics and she was always active in the church. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Kim; a son, Kenna and his wife Mary and their daughter, Sarah Martin and her husband, Ian; a daughter Susan Utne and her husband, Brian, and their children, Elise and Calvin; a daughter Michelle Floyd; and a brother-in-law, Bob Macauley of Carlisle, Massachusetts; and numerous cousins, nephews and nieces. Sang was an avid gardener and loved the outdoors. Springtime especially found her gardens bursting with colorful blooms which Rick often liked to call her "Spring fireworks." She enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, cake decorating, flower arranging and bird watching. She was also a wonderful cook and the first thing she said to any visiting friends or relatives was to "sit and eat." Sang will have a graveside service at 11:00 AM on Thursday, April 17, 2014 at Hampton Memorial Gardens. The family has requested no flowers, instead, a memorial gift can be made to worldwildlife.org. Arrangements by Amory Funeral Home, Grafton, VA.
